A former Michigan industrialist, Mr. Woods' entrepreneurial spirit and vision have propelled Palm Beach Media Group to a new level. After selling his plastics manufacturing business, Thermofil Inc., in 1989, Mr. Woods moved to Palm Beach. He purchased Palm Beach Illustrated magazine and its parent company, Palm Beach Media Group in 1991, and has heavily invested in the firm, bringing in extensive business and publishing talent, adding publication titles and upgrading facilities. Under his guidance, Palm Beach Media Group has launched a number of publications, including Naples Illustrated, Tampa Bay Illustrated, Weddings Illustrated, Palm Beach Charity Register, Naples Charity Register, Tampa Bay Charity Register, Treasure Coast Charity Register, The Jewel of Palm Beach (the magazine of Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club), Traditions (the magazine of The Breakers resort), Reflections (the magazine of Longboat Key Club) and Neapolitan (the magazine of Naples Grande Beach Resort and Edgewater Beach Hotel).
Mr. Woods launched Bootstrap Ranch High School in Montana, where he owns a ranch. Bootstrap Ranch is a private high school for socio-economically disadvantaged children from all over the country. He also supports many children and arts' organizations in Palm Beach, Naples and Tampa Bay.
Mr. Woods, a Notre Dame graduate, is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys playing tennis.
